Santa Barbara Transgender Advocacy Network

Organization Mission

The Santa Barbara Transgender Advocacy Network educates individuals and organizations on best practices for transgender and gender-expansive clients, patients, students, congregants, and families; and we create and develop spaces, actions, and policies that advance the welfare of transgender and diverse gender-nonconforming individuals, their families, and allies in California’s Central Coast communities.

Social Change Project:
Hiring and Keeping Transgender Employees

SBTAN will train Santa Barbara County employees on how to hire and keep transgender and nonbinary people on staff. This will benefit working people by diversifying their workplaces, and it will benefit all visitors and locals, who get to do business with people of all gender identities and expressions.

This was the best transgender training I have yet seen (and I have seen many.) I really like that she separated the LGB from T. Very helpful, and it has sparked further conversations with my co-workers.
