We Did It!
We did it, together, and raised $282,144 for 53 local nonprofits.
We envision a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed inclusive of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. PFLAG realizes its mission through support for families, allies, and people who are LGBTQ; education for ourselves and others about the unique issues and challenges facing people who are LGBTQ; and advocacy in our communities to change attitudes and create policies and laws that achieve full equality for people who are LGBTQ.
We are launching a project to expand our accessibility by providing Spanish-language translation and making our support meeting inclusive of the Latinx community. This program will offer much-needed support to Spanish-speaking LGBTQ individuals and their families.
PFLAG works to ensure that people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer and their families are safe and secure, no matter where they live, work, study, pray, or play. We focus on generating family support, which is critical to the well-being of LGBTQ people.
PFLAG Santa Barbara has been life changing for my mom and me. We’ve learned so much and have gained much needed support by attending their meetings. As a Latina, I have experienced first-hand the need for interpretation and translation at these meetings. My mom has grown greatly from attending them, but I am sure that if there were no language barrier, she would benefit more. I am positive this project will help many families and I hope it will bring awareness to the Hispanic community, so they too may benefit from what PFLAG offers. We always look forward to attending these meetings and are thankful for what PFLAG has done and continues to do for the LGBTQ+ community and their families. -Cristina Gonzalez from Goleta, CA
