PFLAG Santa Barbara Chapter

Organization Mission

We envision a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed inclusive of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. PFLAG realizes its mission through support for families, allies, and people who are LGBTQ; educating ourselves and others about the unique issues and challenges facing people who are LGBTQ; and community advocacy to change attitudes and to create policies and laws that achieve full equality for people who are LGBTQ.

Social Change Project:
Move Equality Forward for the LGBTQ Community in Santa Barbara with new efforts to expand our accessibility.

We need continued support for the Santa Barbara’s PFLAG Chapter and our efforts to expand our outreach and accessibility, especially to the Latinx community.
PFLAG works to ensure that people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer and their families are safe and secure, no matter where they live, work, study, pray or play. We focus on generating family support, which is critical to the well-being of LGBTQ people. We are launching a special effort to expand our accessibility by providing Spanish-language translation and exploring new ways to serve a diverse population.

As the Latina mother of a LGBTQ child the support I have found at PFLAG Santa Barbara has been life giving. I am acutely aware that there is a special need within the Latinx community for what PFLAG offers. I am very excited about this project to remove the language barrier to that support and access to a safe space.
