AHA! (Attitude. Harmony. Achievement.)

Organization Mission

AHA! inspires communities to feel safe, seen, celebrated, and emotionally connected. We equip teenagers and educators with social and emotional intelligence to dismantle apathy, prevent despair, and interrupt hate-based behavior. By inspiring teens and adults to joyfully lead with courage and kindness, AHA! transforms schools and communities into welcoming, nourishing, expressive, and inclusive spaces where youth and adults work together for the highest good.

Social Change Project:
Lead the Change: Social-Emotional Leadership for Teens

AHA! will utilize our best-practices Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) model to initiate an in-depth leadership course at Santa Barbara high schools, galvanizing students across the spectrum of privilege and identity to become kind, creative, and emotionally intelligent adults who lead the change they want to see. SEL programs teach empathy, responsibility, and social conscience and are demonstrated to be singularly effective for school violence prevention.

AHA! has taught me how to be myself in a way that is inviting to others and to be aware about how I talk to not harm anyone. I’ve also learned how to accept everyone’s opinions even if we don’t share the same views.

– Perla Sandoval, Santa Barbara

AHA! has taught me to not only take care of myself but how to help others and form strong, supportive, and healthy relationships with those in my community. It has impacted me in ways I can’t describe, but I know it has inspired me to want to help people and provide them the skills needed to better themselves and their own community.
